As President of Dreaming Creek Timber Frame Homes, Inc., Bobby Shortridge’s primary role is to focus on sales and budgeting for new projects by developing relationships with current clients, prospective clients, architects, contractors and developers. Bobby works directly with the client and architect during the design phase in order to provide maximum value and quality. His continued involvement with the project and team during construction provides direction and support for an exceptional quality timber frame upon completion.
Prior to starting as General Manager for Dreaming Creek in 2008, Bobby spent 10 years managing Dreaming Creek’s expansive sawmill operation. His vast experience in dealing with lumber suppliers brings the company established relationships with vendors, manufacturers and other contractors. He strives to be fair and promotes collaborative thoughts that make him well respected in the industry.
Bobby is a highly motivated individual with a get it done attitude. He credits an upbringing of strong work ethic and first-hand knowledge of every facet of construction as the keys to helping him build effective solutions for challenging projects, making the end result a successful organization.
Steve has been with Dreaming Creek for over ten years and is responsible for preparing just about every stick of wood that goes through our facility. Steve is a master at operating our 4-sided Planer/Moulder and Straight Line Rip Saw. His talents with working wood extend into the hand tooling and finishing areas and as a CNC machine operator.
Steve resides in Floyd, VA with his wife Joan and children Rose, Ben, Leroy, Andrea, Ruth, Kenny and Sylvia. He is also Pastor of the Will Ridge Mennonite Church in Floyd, VA.
Mike is Dreaming Creek’s senior CNC machine operator. He works closely with the Design group and the Timber wrights to optimize the CNC software and ready the machine for production. Mike’s efforts are most realized when the timbers he produces land on the saw horses for hand finishing…where the caring attitude is transformed into high quality joinery. Mike grew up on a dairy farm in the Floyd area and enjoys hunting, fishing, skiing and spending time with his wife Renee and sons, Rollin and Benjamin.
Jodie is a welcomed new comer to the Dreaming Creek family and has over 12 years’ experience in the building trades industry.
Previously a steel worker and CNC machine operator Jodie has quickly adapted to the pleasant world of Timber Framing.

Jodie and his son Ayden live just a few miles down the road from the Floyd beamery and enjoy the peacefulness of downtown Floyd, VA.
Rocky has 15 + years of combined maintenance experience in the fields of machine technology, electrical , mechanical ,and welding. “I like being part of team here at DC a great group of people, and I enjoy building machines and equipment for some of our Unique and often one of a kind timber frames and projects”.
Stuart was born and raised in Richmond and currently works in the Sales and Project Management Department at Dreaming Creek. Stuart has a BA in Psychology and brings with him 23 years of Sales, Managerial and Project Management experience in a variety of industries. Stuart joined the Dreaming Creek team in 2013 after spending the last 10 years in the commercial millwork business. Stuart quickly developed an enthusiasm and dedication to Dreaming Creek and the company’s commitment to excellence in every aspect of timber frame construction. Stuart is married to his wife of 23 years. They have a Daughter studying communications at Radford University and a Middle School aged son who is an avid musician. In his spare time, Stuart enjoys spending time with his family, playing music in local venues,fishing, photography and serving his church.
As Procurement Manager, Dwight Wood is in charge of materials and inventory management. He is also responsible for shipping and receiving, and making sure the Beamery crew is stocked with tools/supplies for daily operations. The most exciting part of the job is procurement of timber, trunnels, and other materials that go directly into the timber frame – items to be seen and enjoyed for years to come. Dwight joined the team in 2006, bringing with him years of experience in the woodworking field. He has a background in carpentry and cabinetmaking, and taught vocational classes prior to becoming a full time woodworker. He enjoys working with people and building relationships with vendors, suppliers and everyone involved with the industry.
Dwight is ready to answer any question regarding wood species and their characteristics, and enjoys showing everyone the inventory of beautiful timbers on hand at Dreaming Creek.
Mike is Dreaming Creek’s Operations and Facilities Engineering Manager for the Floyd production facility. He plans, directs, and coordinates, through a staff of skilled trade personnel, all plant activities with the goal of maximizing quality, improving efficiency and delivering the highest quality Timber Frames in the industry. Mike has a BS in Industrial Engineering and is a constant source of innovation for the company. He continues to specialize in creative problem solving by designing, building and modifying equipment to meet the unique needs of our clients. Mike has worked with Dreaming Creek since 1990 and came to Floyd ten years ago in order to facility the opening of their new facility. Mike and his wife Patty enjoy hiking on the many trails and waterways and savor the abundant talent found on Virginia’s “Crooked Road-Heritage Music Trail.” Contact Mike to see how our facility is specially equipped to create the beautiful timber frames for which Dreaming Creek is well known.
John “JZ” Ziehl – Design Manager
Ricky Wright (Powhatan Production)
After fifteen years in property management and the birth of two daughters, Peggy decided it was time for a change and shifted her focus to work in construction administration, closer to her home.
For the past ten years, she has remained a friendly, familiar face to all who enter or call our Powhatan office. She oversees all aspects of day-to-day management and administration, including AP & AR accounting, human resources, and construction administration. She is a creative and innovative thinker and possesses strong problem solving abilities. Peggy juggles multiple tasks while communicating and extending professional courtesy to our clients, vendors, and staff. She currently holds an inactive real estate license and has completed classes in real estate appraisal at the University of Richmond, as well as real estate law at John Tyler Community College. She spent many years volunteering in her community in various roles for non-profit associations and as a pediatric hospital volunteer.
In addition to keeping our office running smoothly, she enjoys attending VCU Rams Basketball home games and spending time with her family. Her oldest daughter is an honors student at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing dual degrees in flute performance and environmental studies, while her youngest daughter attends Powhatan High School with an avid interest in photography.
